Support our project to bring this museum to life…

The concept of a museum to recreate and celebrate the 800 years of the Custody of the Holy land was born in 2015. Since then, thanks to our generous donors, we have been able realize part of this dream with the opening of the Archaeological Museum I – “Via Dolorosa” immersive experience and partial opening of Part II “Life and Power in the Age of the New Testament,” showcasing more than 300 artifacts from the time of Herod the Great to the VI Century. Both museums have since welcomed thousands of visitors from around the world.

As we move on to the next phase we welcome new supporters to join in our mission and share in a piece of history and cultural heritage that can provide a place to share knowledge and foster deeper understanding in the heart of the Holy land.

  • Phase 2 – to complete the Archaeological Museum part II, we need to restore 700m2 of the existing monastery to then fit and display the collections in rooms dedicated to Jesus life in Bethlehem, Nazareth, Capernaum, Tabgha, Magdala, Mount Tabor, Bethany and Jerusalem.
  • Phase 3 is to renovate the ground floor of the St. Saviour Monastery to be able to house the 1000 items from the Franciscan collection

Once all 3 phases are complete, we hope to welcome many more thousands of pilgrims and visitors from across the globe and share with them the traditions and treasures collected over the 800 years of the Franciscan Custody over the Holy land.  There will be special focus on educational groups for local schools and overseas visitors, with a full program of workshops and learning opportunities.

Financial sustainability

Deloitte Financial Advisory Services was requested to carry out a feasibility study and a business plan. Taking into account elements such as the annual potential visitor market – both Christian and non-Christian – Deloitte’s pro bono analysis demonstrates financial sustainability for the Terra Sancta Museum.
